APPRENTICESHIP DRIVE : Our latest Recruitment Drive has been completed.
If you are interested in the Elevator Industry as a career keep an eye on this site and we will post information when we schedule another drive.
Recruitment Process:
The IUEC Local 135 Hiring List is populated through a recruitment drive. A Recruitment Drive will only be scheduled when our Hiring List depletes and the work outlook deems it nessessary to rebuild it.
Once a drive is necessary, we will post the date, place and time in which applications will be available.
Step One: Aquire and fill application
Step Two: Once applications are submitted applicants will be notified of the place, date and time in which an aptitude test will be given.
Step Three: Those that have taken the Aptitude test will be notified of the place, date and time of interviews. The interviews are given by members of the union teamed up with representatives of the companies.
The resulting scores of the Aptitude test and the interview will rank applicants on the hiring list.
When companies call the union hall in need of manpower the order of dispatch will be as such depending on if a Mechanic or apprentice is requested.:
1. Apprentice or Mechanic requested by name that has worked for that company within the past year.
2. Apprentice or Mechanic on the bench. in the case of Apprentices, they will be dispatched by year ranking, 4th year being first.
3. If the bench is empty the hiring list will be used.
When a company calls the Union Hall for workers, the Local has 72 hours to supply manpower, so it is important that if you are on the hiring list or on the bench that you are available to be contacted.
